The 5th Brilliant Sounds of Five Colors·Waitongwu(Hangzhou,China) International Guzheng Music Creation & Composition Workshop.

春满江南时节，当西湖烟柳垂丝轻曳，嫩芽初绽处尽染青碧，龙井茶山蒸腾的云雾沁润街巷，2025第五届"翡翠·五色炫音"外桐坞 （杭州，中国）国际筝乐作曲工作坊作在钱塘潮信中翩然启幕。

自2019年开始，翡翠•五色炫音筝乐作曲工作坊在作曲家钟启荣博士以及周展、盛秧教授的发起下，已经连续成功举办了四届，该工作坊已成为中国民族器乐—筝乐创作探索实践的重要阵地。作曲坊以创、排、演为特色，面向全国青年作曲家征稿，作品经过导师团队的甄选后，进行现场试奏、排练、展演。入选者名单涵盖全国各大音乐院校的优秀本硕博学生、教师及备受瞩目的作曲新星。

这届以探索筝乐的无限可能，我们以无报名费，提供国际旅费补助，诚邀全球青年作曲家参与！

本届工作坊以跨界融合与古筝音乐为主题，融合流行、爵士、独立、放克、摇滚、世界音乐和当代音乐等风格。我们欢迎全球青年作曲家投稿，共同推动古筝重奏原创音乐的创新发展！

征集作品类别

原创跨界融合作品

组别1--独奏乐器/人声独唱/表演/舞蹈与古筝重奏（二重至六重奏）作品。

作曲家可自行邀请演奏者、歌手、表演者或舞者（主办方提供食宿，但不包含演奏酬劳和交通费用）。

组别2--古筝二重奏至六重奏作品

风格不限，鼓励创新作品并展现古筝重奏的多元表现力。

投稿要求

原创作品， 不曾公开演出过。

每人仅允许投稿一件作品。

作品长度：8分钟以内

记谱方式：五线谱乐谱（PDF 格式）

音频建议：可附音频文件（非必需）

附加材料：200字以内的中英文作曲家简介，照片及联系方式

报名资格

年龄要求：35岁以下

身份要求：全球青年作曲家（不限国籍）

重要信息

投稿截止日期：2025年6月15日

入选名额：8位作曲家

入选作曲家必须全程参与在外桐坞 （杭州，中国）7月8日-12日的排练，讲座和工作坊，作曲家要负责排练自己作品并在7月12日为作品展演音乐会。

入选作曲家到工作坊期间的交通，住宿和餐点将由主办方负责，也为国际入选作曲家提供国际旅费补贴：400美金 （3000人民币）。

When spring embraces the Jiangnan region, as willow tendrils sway over the misty West Lake and verdant hues grace every budding shoot, while the steaming mists of Longjing tea hills seep into ancient streets — the 5th Brilliant Sounds of Five Colors · Waitongwu (Hangzhou, China) International Guzheng Music Creation & Composition Workshop will rise with the Qiantang Tide in 2025.

Since its inception in 2019, founded by composer Dr. Chong Kee Yong, alongside Prof. Zhou Zhan and Prof. Sheng Yang of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, this workshop has flourished into a pivotal platform for exploring guzheng composition in Chinese traditional music. With its signature Creation-Rehearsal-Performance model, it calls for submissions globally from young composers. Selected works undergo live trial performances, intensive rehearsals, and final showcases under mentor guidance. Past participants include outstanding students(undergraduate to doctoral), faculty from major conservatories, and rising stars in contemporary composition.  

This edition, dedicated to  exploring and discovering the Endless Possibilities of Chinese Guzheng Music, invites young composers worldwide to participate with no application fee and international travel grants!  

Centered on Cross-Disciplinary Integration and Innovation, the workshop integrates Pop, Jazz, Indie, Funk, Rock, World Music, and Contemporary Music styles. We welcome submissions globally to collectively advance the creative evolution of original guzheng ensemble works!  

Submission Categories 

Original Cross-Genre Fusion Works

Category 1: Compositions for solo instrument/vocal   solo  /   solo performance/solo dance with guzheng ensemble (2–6 players). 

- Composers may collaborate with performers, vocalists, or dancers (accommodation provided; performance fees and travel expenses not covered).  

Category 2:  

- Guzheng ensemble works (2–6 players). 

- Open to all styles, with emphasis on innovative approaches and diverse expressive techniques.  

Submission Requirements

- Original compositions never publicly performed. 

- One submission per composer. 

- Duration: Under 8 minutes. 

- Notation: Staff notation (PDF format). 

- Optional: Audio demo (MP3/WAV). 

 Additional materials:  

 - Bilingual (Chinese/English) composer biography (200 words max). 

- Photo and contact details. 

Eligibility:

--Aged 35 or under

-Young composers worldwide (with no restrictions on nationality) 

Key Details

- Submission Deadline: June 15, 2025. 

-Selected Composers: 8 Fellowship Awardees

- Mandatory Participation:  

- Full attendance at rehearsals, lectures, and workshops in Waitongwu (Hangzhou, China), July 8–12, 2025. 

- Composers must lead rehearsals and present their work for the July 12 Final Concert. 

- Support:  Domestic/International Composers: Accommodation, meals, and local transportation covered. 

- International Travel Grant: USD 400 (approx. CNY 3,000).
